The Detroit Lions have secured wide receiver Jameson Williams with a contract extension just ahead of the 2025 season. Breaking late Saturday night, the news confirms that the team’s 2022 first-round pick will remain a key part of Detroit’s roster moving forward, ensuring continuity as the regular season kicks off on Sunday.
Jameson Williams’ New Contract
Williams has agreed to a three-year, $83 million contract extension with the Lions, including $67 million in guaranteed money and an average annual value of $27.6 million. The deal builds on the fifth-year option the team previously exercised, keeping Williams under contract through at least the 2025 season. However, it remains unclear whether the extension runs through 2028 or 2029, depending on how the fifth-year option is accounted for.
Williams becomes the second Lions wide receiver in as many seasons to secure a significant extension, joining Amon-Ra St. Brown, who signed a four-year, $120 million deal ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft. These moves underscore Detroit’s commitment to securing its top receiving talent for the long term.

The deal included a $9.88 million signing bonus, $17.46 million in guaranteed money, and an average annual salary of $4.37 million. On April 25, 2025, the Lions exercised his fifth-year option for the 2026 season, valued at $15.49 million, ensuring he was already under contract through 2026 before agreeing to the new extension.
Suspensions And Fines
Throughout his career, Williams has faced multiple suspensions and fines.
