Apparently, two of boxing’s biggest names have decided the world needs to see them fight… again. According to a press release from CSI Sports, former heavyweight champ Mike Tyson and ex-welterweight king Floyd Mayweather have inked contracts for a bout slated for the spring of 2026. According to the release, the date, location, and rules for the fight are still to be determined.

Mike Tyson Vs. Floyd Mayweather

Tyson, 59, made his first professional return to the ring in 19 years when he faced YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in November 2024 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The fight, streamed on Netflix, became the most-watched sporting event in streaming history with 65 million concurrent viewers. Despite the hype, Tyson struggled to deliver, losing a unanimous decision to Paul and failing to show the power and skill that once defined his prime. Critics largely panned the bout for its lack of action.

On the other hand, Mayweather, 48, retired from professional boxing in 2017 after defeating Conor McGregor by TKO, finishing his career undefeated at 50-0. Since then, he has participated in a handful of exhibition matches, most recently in August 2024 against John Gotti III.

Despite Tyson’s underwhelming return, he recently told ESPN that he is open to another fight if the circumstances are right.

When CSI approached me about facing Floyd Mayweather, I thought, ‘This can’t really happen,’” Tyson said. “But Floyd agreed. Honestly, this is something neither the world nor I ever imagined would take place. Boxing has entered a new era of the unpredictable, and this fight is about as unpredictable as it gets.

I still can’t believe Floyd actually wants to do this. It’s going to be tough on him physically, but he’s in. It’s signed, and it’s happening!

Mayweather echoed Tyson’s excitement, emphasizing his unmatched legacy in the sport. “I’ve been doing this for 30 years and there hasn’t been a single fighter that can tarnish my legacy,” he said. “You already know that if I am going to do something, it’s going to be big and it’s going to be legendary. I’m the best in the business of boxing. This exhibition will give the fans what they want.”
