The University of Notre Dame opened with a painful loss to No. 10 Miami on Sunday night at rainy Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. Miami took control of the game before halftime with a balanced offensive attack and one spectacular touchdown catch. While the Fighting Irish tried to claw back into the game, a double-tipped interception derailed their attempt, and a 47-yard field goal with 1:14 left in the game sealed the win for Miami, 27-24.
Brady Quinn’s Bold Take On Notre Dame
After Notre Dame fell in a last-second thriller at Miami, legendary quarterback Brady Quinn offered his take on the game. He weighed in on the team’s effort and expressed confidence that the Fighting Irish will bounce back. Brady also highlighted the performance of quarterback CJ Carr.
Taking to X Brady wrote, “It’s a tough loss, but this team will respond. @13Cjcarr showed everyone just how special he is. Can’t wait to see this group at the end of the season. #GoIrish.”

Redshirt freshman CJ Carr was excellent in the game. He showed everyone why he won the starting job for the Fighting Irish, making Quinn’s praise more than fair. His 4th quarter connection to Eli Rarido for a 65-yard gain, followed by a seven-yard scramble for a game-tying touchdown, was particularly impressive.
Despite Carr’s fantastic play, the quarterback battle ultimately favored Hurricanes’ Carson Beck, who made an impact during the first half.
Notre Dame Freshman Carr
CJ Carr comes from an athletic lineage. His paternal grandfather, Lloyd, is a Hall of Fame head coach, and his maternal grandfather, Tom Curtis, played varsity football at the University of Michigan from 1967 to 1969.
Carr went to Saline High School in Michigan, where he passed for 2,754 yards and 24 touchdowns as a senior. He also played in the 2024 All-American Bowl. A four-star recruit coming out of high school, Carr committed to the University of Notre Dame to play college football.
He took a redshirt in his first season, 2024, and played in one game as a backup to Riley Leonard.
