After a long and bitter contract standoff, the Cowboys made a surprising move by trading the superstar EDGE Micah Parsons to the Packers. Amid his contract extension talks and subsequent trade request from the Cowboys, Parsons said he was dealing with a back injury. After the trade, he updated his fans on the injury.
Micah Parsons Back Injury Update
Packers DE Parsons met with the reporters on Friday in Green Bay, Wisconsin, nearly a day after being traded from the Cowboys. He made sure to address any lingering questions about his health issues and made his feelings clear on the trade.
Parsons was traded to the Packers in return for the three-time Pro Bowler Kenny Clark and two first-round picks in the 2026 and 2027 NFL Drafts.
When discussing the trade, he explained that he had no say in which team the Cowboys sent him to. Most importantly, he addressed the injury concerns, saying he has no back issues. “Physically, I’m great,” said Parsons.
“I think I can contribute a lot. I’m gonna team up with the doctors to create a plan. We already talked about how we can ramp things up and get me into a flow where they feel comfortable and I feel comfortable,” he continued.

As he settles in Green Bay, Parsons said he’s already feeling a warm welcome, and he also compared it to his time at Penn State, saying,
“I got the chance to speak with some other guys and faculty about what it could be like if I decided to come here. I got to talk to Rasheed [Walker] a little bit. That’s my guy from Penn State, came in together. ‘It’s like Penn State. It’s like home. It’s like a brotherhood. It’s safe. You focus on ball and we keep everything the right thing. It kind of gave me comfort, and it kind of gave me a better decision. Like, ‘OK, this is the place where I feel like I can take my next step and continue to have a great legacy here.’
Micah Parsons Contract With the Packers
In August 2025, the Packers signed Parsons on a massive four-year $188 million contract, including $136 million guaranteed. This contract makes him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL. The deal also exceeds previous projections as Parsons was expected to make around $40-$41 million annually based on his performance and market value.
