The fourth-ranked men’s tennis player in the world, Taylor Fritz, knows how to juggle his demanding tennis career and the responsibility of being a father. At 27, his reflection on focus reveals a maturity beyond his years. Fritz has indeed carved out a unique path to professional tennis.
Taylor Fritz Became a Father At 19 With Wife Raquel Pedraza
Fritz became a father at a young age, welcoming his son, Jordan, with his ex-wife, Raquel Pedraza. He was just 19 at that time. Pedraza, a former professional tennis player, retired in 2017 to focus on motherhood.
The two were high school sweethearts. Fritz famously proposed to Pedraza in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. However, in December 2019, the couple divorced, with joint custody of their son Jordan.
Due to his busy schedule, Jordan primarily lives with his mother. Since divorcing Pedraza, Fritz has been dating his girlfriend, Morgan Riddle, “the most famous woman in men’s tennis,” according to The New York Times.
Riddle is an influencer and model known for her head-turning outfits at Fritz’s tournaments.
Fritz Reflects On Becoming a Father
In 2023, Fritz reflected on becoming a father at a young age of 19. He said it taught him a valuable lesson in time management and perspective. He said,
“I think [having a kid] taught me a lot of lessons about time management. I have to juggle all these different things. It also taught me to not care so much about other people’s opinions. I learned one, not to care, and two, just to handle my business and be as productive as possible. I do have more things to manage now, and I definitely had to grow up fast, but it was always going to be like that anyway. I was traveling the world when I was 17 to play tennis, so regardless of my own personal things, you have to grow up pretty fast in this sport anyway.”
