Even while sidelined, Caitlin Clark has superstar support.
After the 23-year-old Fever guard confirmed she would miss the rest of the WNBA season due to injury, the legendary LeBron James shared an uplifting message on her post, encouraging her to stay strong and promising fans she’ll bounce back.
LeBron James Rooting For Caitlin Clark
Clark announced Thursday that she will miss the remainder of the WNBA season after struggling to come back from a left groin injury she sustained on July 15. Her recovery was further complicated by a bone bruise on her left ankle during a workout in early August, ESPN reported.
I had hoped to share a better update, but I will not be returning to play this season. I spent hours in the gym every day with the singular goal of getting back out there, disappointed isn’t a big enough word to describe how I am feeling. I want to thank everyone who had my back… pic.twitter.com/paD5sEYG1q

“I had hoped to share a better update, but I will not be returning to play this season,” Clark wrote on X. “I spent hours in the gym every day with the goal of getting back out there. Disappointed isn’t a big enough word to describe how I’m feeling. I want to thank everyone who had my back through all the uncertainty. Even in the tough moments, there’s good—seeing fans support me and the Fever has brought me so much joy and perspective. I’m proud of how this team has grown stronger through adversity. Now it’s time to close out the season and focus on claiming our spot in the Playoffs.”
Support poured in quickly, including from basketball superstar James. The L.A. Lakers star replied to Clark’s post: “Minor setback for a MAJOR COMEBACK!! Rest up, get healthy, and be YOU!”
Clark appeared in just 13 games during her sophomore WNBA season, averaging 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 8.8 assists.
The Fever had exercised caution with Clark’s injury, as it marked her fourth muscle-related setback of the season. The training staff wanted to ensure she didn’t risk long-term damage or overcompensate with other muscles, which could lead to additional injuries.
Despite her dedication and countless hours in the gym, Clark’s recovery progressed more slowly than expected, especially following the bone bruise she sustained during a personal workout in Phoenix on August 7.
