This Tuesday, all 32 NFL teams trimmed their roster down to 53 players, leaving many hopefuls on the outside looking in. For some, this is a temporary setback rather than the end of their football journey.
One of the most talked-about names to be waived this week was Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Shilo Sanders. The son of NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, Shilo joined the Bucs this offseason as an undrafted free agent, drawing attention not just for his skills but also for his famous lineage.
His younger brother, Shedeur, however, appears poised to make the roster. Drafted in the fifth round, his prospects were boosted when the Browns traded one of their quarterbacks to the Raiders.
Deion Sanders On Shilo Being Waived
Shilo had no room for error to make the 53-man roster as an undrafted free agent. His ejection for throwing a punch in the Bucs’ third preseason game acted as a final straw. The Bucs front office did not hesitate and waived the former Colorado standout on Sunday.
After the news of his son’s release broke, reporters asked NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders for his thoughts and what the potential next steps might be for Shilo’s NFL career. To which Deion said,
“I’m proud of my kids, all of them, and I prepared my kids for anything that could possibly happen in life and in sports. He is mentally where he needs to be, physically where he needs to be. We’re praying that he gets another opportunity with a team. But if he doesn’t, the plans have already been put forward for what he’s going to do next.”

Making it clear he is not much concerned about Shilo’s future, Deion said,
“Shilo is a man of many talents, and he’s going to be straight. All the Sanders are going to be straight, with or without football, you better believe that. I take care of mine, and I always have, and y’all know what I mean.”
Toronto Agronauts Add Shilo Sanders To Negotiation List
The NFL fate of both of the legendary Deion Sanders’ sons is yet to be seen. Somewhere north of the border, the rights to either of the Sanders brothers have already been secured if they decide to play in the CFL.
On Sunday, the Argonauts added Shilo to their negotiation list, securing exclusive CFL rights to the second son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders. This move follows their earlier claim on quarterback Shedeur Sanders, whose rights they secured on April 28.
