The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have waived rookie safety Shilo Sanders. However, it does not mean Shilo will never put on the Bucs set again. He could still end up potentially on the practice squad. Sanders hurt his chances of making the 53-man roster when he punched a rival to earn an ejection against the Bills.
Toronto Agronauts Add Shilo Sanders To Negotiation List
The NFL fate of both of the legendary Deion Sanders’ sons is yet to be seen. Somewhere north of the border, the rights to either of the Sanders brothers have already been secured if they decide to play in the CFL.
On Sunday, the Argonauts added Shilo to their negotiation list, securing exclusive CFL rights to the second son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders. This move follows their earlier claim on quarterback Shedeur Sanders, whose rights they secured on April 28.
CFL teams can claim up to 45 players on their negotiation list, including those not eligible for the Canadian or Global Drafts and who haven’t played in the league. Players don’t have to be interested in the CFL to be added, and many aren’t aware their rights have been claimed.
Shilo was waived by the Buccaneers after being ejected for an on-field altercation during the preseason. At 25, he was trying to make the team as an undrafted free agent and recorded four tackles in three games. He could still be picked up by another NFL team or signed to a practice squad after final cuts.
While it’s still early to say, if Shilo goes unclaimed on waivers and isn’t signed to an NFL practice squad, he may consider continuing his football career in Canada.
The chances of that happening with Shedeur are slim, as he remains with the Cleveland Browns and is expected to make their 53-man roster. For now, all eyes are on Shilo, who could seize the opportunity to gain valuable playing time and develop his skills in the CFL—potentially setting himself up for another shot in the NFL down the line.
