Head Coach - Kirk Fridrich

Kirk Fridrich joined the Union Athletic Department as Associate Athletic Director and head football coach in January of 2007, returning to Union after a five-year absence. Fridrich was an assistant varsity coach for the Redskins from 1993-2001, leaving to accept the head football coaching position at Stillwater Public Schools where he remained until 2005. In 2006, Coach Fridrich became the head football coach and District Wellness Coordinator for Owasso Public Schools, where he led the Owasso Rams to the 2006 6A State Semi-Finals.

In his first year as head coach at Union, Kirk led the Union Redskins to an undefeated regular season, and on to the 2007 6A State Finals, finishing 13-1.

In 2008, the Union football team completed their goal of winning the 2008 6A State Championship for the fifth time in school history. The Redskins made an amazing run in the playoffs defeating their opponents by an average of 32.5 points per game, and again, finishing the year with a record of 13-1.

Coach Fridrich earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tulsa and Master of Science degree from Oklahoma State University.

  • Oklahoma District 6A-3 Coach of the Year (2007)
  • Oklahoma Region 7 Coach of the Year (2006)
  • Oklahoma District 6A-3 Co-Coach of the Year (2006)
  • Oklahoma District 6A-3 Coach of the Year (2004)
  • Oklahoma Coach of the Year-Fellowship of Christian Athletes (2000-2001)

Coach Fridrich is married to Tina and together they have two sons, Joshua and John Thomas (J.T.).
